"Zorro" to (52 odcinkowa, po 25 minut każdy) historia bazująca na słynnej postaci, której twórcą jest Johnston McCulley. Opowiada o młodzieńcu, który po kilku latach spędzonych w Europie na naukach, wraca do rodzinnego kraju zastając go w totalnym chaosie. Hiszpańscy żołnierze nie przestrzegają prawa, a ludzie stają się coraz biedniejsi. Diego de la Vega (bo tak się nazywa główny bohater tego anime) postanawia przywdziać kostium Zorra i walczyć w obronie słabych i pokrzywdzonych. Na swojej drodze spotyka wiele niebezpieczeństw oraz wrogów. Znajduje jednak także wielu sprzymierzeńców, między innymi przyłącza się do niego Bernard (młody chłopiec), który również przywdziewa kostium i przybiera imię: Małego Zorra. Wraz z nim są w stanie przezwyciężyć wszelkie przeciwności losu. Pokrzyżować nikczemne plany Hiszpańskich oficerów, odstawić wymiarowi sprawiedliwości napotkanych rabusiów, ale przede wszystkim walczyć w obronie uciśnionych.
