Odkrywa niespodziewany dar, który staje się dla niego przekleństwem-może się kontaktować z duchami, a co gorsze duchy chcą się kontaktować z nim. Szczególnie jeden jest bardzo aktywny - Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) , prosi go aby powstrzymał zbliżające się małżeństwo jego byłej żony.
