Pierwsza to opowieść o nauczycielce z Anglii, która w latach pięćdziesiątych XIX wieku wychodzi za mąż za indyjskiego maharadżę Jayanta. Druga historia również ukazuje uczucie Hindusa do Europejki, ale w czasach współczesnych.
