Jego życie zostaje wywrócone do góry nogami, gdy francuski ruch oporu w osobie Michelle zamierza u niego ukryć dwóch angielskich lotników. Tymczasem von Strom i kapitan Hans zlecają właścicielowi kawiarni przechowanie cennego obrazu van Clompa, który zamierzają sprzedać po wojnie. W wyniku splotu wydarzeń Niemcy fingują rozstrzelanie Rene, a ten musi udawać swojego brata bliźniaka. Galerię postaci uzupełniają żona Edith, zakochane w swoim szefie kelnerki Yvette i Maria (w późniejszych odcinkach Marię zastąpi Mimi), przebrany za francuskiego żandarma Anglik Crapty, starający się o rękę Edith przedsiębiorca pogrzebowy pan Alfonse, kulejący gestapowiec Herr Otto Flick, jego równie kulejący pomocnik von Smallhausen, sekretarka komendanta miasta Helga, porucznik Gruber o skłonnościach homoseksualnych (i zainteresowany Rene), włoski oficer Bartorelli, fałszerz LeClerc, teścowa Renego - Fanny, pod której łóżkiem jest przechowywana tajna radiostacja, oraz bojowniczki komunistycznego ruchu oporu... Świetna komedia, której zagmatwanej akcji nie sposób opisać. Nie tylko dla miłośników angielskiego humoru.
